Alford Manor 13th November 2009

It was my second visit to this location, and one of which I was looking forward to. The group were in the main very open minded and eager to explore the potential of experiencing the paranormal.

  Location spirit/ghost

  Foyer

After the group had had their walkabout and history tour

of the building they were given some time to wonder

around and take photographs and generally, get a better

feel for the layout and of how they themselves felt in

the various rooms. It is worthy of note that one of the

group had heard whispering in his ear and was touched

a number of times. Interestingly a second person

independent of the first person also had whispering

in their ear. Further to this a person was also touched

in the downstairs room.

  Room 1

We came into this room on the first floor, the room

itself was quite light, having a number of windows

bringing light in from the street below. There was

the one energy in this room, in this case the residual

energy of a well built man attired in the fashion of

the first civil war. One of the group reported having

a mild headache whilst stood to the area of the

window, though as they had moved away the headache

subsided.

He was stood into the area by the far wall, he was around

16 stone in weight and wore a cummerbund around his

waistline, a large periwig, troos of a heavy material and

coats. I felt this man to have been from around the period

of 1643. I did not feel him to have been a military man

though linked to the household itself and would have

been for the royalist cause. A strong connection to the

city of Lincoln was connected to both the house and the

gentleman in question.

  Nursery

We came into this room to the comments of a number

of people that they did not like the room. The main

energies of this room were of the Victorian period of

around 1840-1860. I was myself feeling a little sick

as such I asked the group if they themselves felt

alright.

There was the residual energy of a young girl attired

consummate with the Victorian period. Her brown hair

was to her collar, rounded facial features, and brown

eyes. At this point a member of the group asked to be

let out of the room, and this set off a lot of remarks

as to not feeling at all comfortable. I felt that there

had been the death of an infant in this room.

There was also the spirit energy of a man by the name of

Thomas who was talking about roses. He was of a thin

build, grey hair, blue eyes, and appeared to have been in

his middle to late fifties in age. His face was ruddy in

complexion and a no nonsense attitude. The name of Grace

was connected to the house around 1901, he provided me

the surname of Wilson.

A couple of the group remarked that they had become

very emotional whilst in this room, the interesting fact

is that they had recently become parents themselves.

  Box room

We came into the small room across from the previous

room. There was the spirit energy of a man who was

talking of being here during the time of the Stuarts. He

further commented that he was indeed referring to the

monarch. He was attired in ankle boots, thin troos, a periwig

a tall thin build, pronounced chin. He referred to this area

as having been part of the highway between the coast and

the city of Lincoln. He then mentioned an ale house whereby

people would stop. A battle of religious issues was then

being mentioned and in particular regards to the catholic

faith.

  Back room

We came to the back of the house and into a large room

with a very uneven floor. As we settled down one of the

group towards the corner of the room remarked that they

were feeling a little light headed. After asking them to

move to another area, the dizziness was no longer felt.

There was also a loud moan like sound heard in the room

I thus informed people of how noises such as rumbling

bellies can sometimes be confused.

I was aware of the residual energy of a man lying up

against the wall. His legs were extended outwards, his

hands in his lap and both hands and feet were trussed

up with rope. I felt this room would have served as a

temporary detention area, and that the man was

connected with espionage/spying as opposed to

religion.

We came into this area later in the event in order to

conduct vigils. There was the residual energy of a man

who by his garb would have been from the early sixteen

hundreds. There were the perceptions of a cross road

nearby, where witches would have been hung, this

information was given by the spirit of a man who

I was seeing standing towards the area of the

entrance doorway. He wore a long dark coat, heavy

trousers, and was of a stocky build, with dark brown

hair and eyes. He remarked at there having been a

windmill, a small ford and a small religious community

in this area during his time. He then mentioned a local

graveyard whereby bodies would have been dug up

and their heads severed, this was I felt in line with

local superstitions of the time, in relation to vampires

and such.

  Empty room

We came into this room which was located to the

top of the stairs and was in itself devoid of any

furnishings. I was at first aware of a number of children

in this room, more reminiscent of a classroom. I was

hearing children singing and several children sat in a

row on chairs.

I was interrupted by the group as they jumped at the

sound of knocking from the window area, there were

also a number of small taps from the window pain

itself. It is fair to say that it was quite windy outside

and we could not discount this factor as being a

possible cause for the knocking noises. People then

reported hearing shouting from downstairs and a couple

of the group along with my colleague went to investigate

though found nothing which could attribute to the cause.

There was also a loud slamming noise which was agreed

by all as being the downstairs door. There was a little

consternation with this as when the door opens there is a

beeping noise to alert the staff to the presence of people

coming through the door, we did not hear this noise. A

small cabinet in the area of the doorway was found to

have its doors open by the wind from the open front door

and that this was most likely the cause of the loud bang.

  Small cupboard

We came into this area and settled down as best we could

and waited to see what may occur. I became aware of the

fact that there would have been a small wooden staircase

to the back right of the room, The residual energy of a

woman attired in the fashion of the mid 16th century was

moving down along the stair case and would have been

a servant. There was a strong emotional feeling with this

woman, so much in fact that one of the group was so

overcome with emotion that they had to leave the room.

There was a noise towards the back of the room which

everyone heard, though could not readily account for.

I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to the people on the event for their continued enthusiasm throughout the night and to my fellow colleagues Wendy and Nick. If you have any experiences you would like to add into this report, please email me.
